One year of daily food swaps

No one wants to give up their favourite foods. But if you swap them out for equally delicious and much healthier alternatives, the numbers really add up over the course of the year. Here are 5 easy switches to try:

Green tea instead of soda. Substitute one can of soda with 1-2 cups of unsweetened green tea for the next year and save about 50,000 calories.

Greek yogurt instead of ice cream. Swap 1/2 cup of ice cream for 1/2 cups of 0% plain greek yogurt and spare yourself approximately 4,015 grams of fat.

Popcorn instead of potato chips. Opt for 3 cups of plain air-popped popcorn instead of one 40 gram bag of potato chips and save about 97, 820 grams of salt.

Baked potato instead of french fries. Substitute one plain baked potato (flesh and skin) over one small serving of fast food french fries and spare yourself about 511 grams of saturated fat per year.

Multigrain bread instead of white bread. Instead of white bread, choose 1 slice of multigrain to boost your fibre intake by about 657 grams per year.
