A very beautiful thing happens each year in early December in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Santa takes time out of his busy schedule to visit his tiniest friends and their families.
He brings elves and a magical tree that walks and talks, and they help him deliver gifts to each participating family. For those who’d like a Santa photo, he’s happy to oblige; he is wise in the ways of the NICU and knows all about cleaning his hands and how to touch little babies.
This year, after he visited, families and staff descended on the T.R. Meighen Family Room where treats were waiting. Thank you to the graduate NICU parents who arranged all the goodies! Thanks must also be given to Pinkstix who donated gorgeous bags for every mom, and to Andrea and the lovely people from the Toronto Toy Tea Committee who made our NICU siblings and babies so happy with their thoughtful gift donations. We were also, courtesy of Crayola, able to include craft packs in all our our baby stockings.
Most of all – thank you elves, thank you tree, thank you Doug the photographer, and thank you Santa! You helped our families experience some holiday joy and we are, as always, incredibly grateful. One of our moms said today, “I felt so sad about missing all the fun, but you brought the fun to us!”
