It’s been an exciting year for our NICU. In September 2010, we moved from our old home downtown into our beautiful new unit up at Sunnybrook. We have individual rooms for our babies and more space for our families. Thanks to the lovely web team we have a shiny new web site with wonderful resources for families and staff. But while many things have changed this year, some important things have not. We still have the same amazing staff members, we still have our fantastic Follow Up Clinic, and we still have our strong commitment to Family Centred Care.
What that means is that families are at the core of everything we do. Families are not considered visitors in our NICU. Our families are part of the team. So this blog will bring you both staff and family stories.
We’ll show you more about what we do, and we will introduce you to some of the wonderful families and staff members who do such transformational work. While the NICU can be an emotionally-challenging place, it can also be a place of joy, and we want to share these moments of joy with you. We’ll also tell you about exciting projects we’re working on, and our families and parents will share their own stories of their challenges and triumphs.
