Delicious 100-calorie snack ideas

Feeling a bit peckish, but trying to maintain a balanced lifestyle? Clinical Dietitian April Thorimbert offers up ten snack options that are not only good for you, but can help curb your hunger at approximately 100 calories each.

Almonds and skim milk. 8 almonds paired with 1 cup (8 oz) skim milk.

Chickpea salad. Small chickpea salad with 1/4 cup chickpeas, 1 cup shredded romaine lettuce, and 1 tablespoon of light vinagrette.

Apple or pear with low fat cheese. One small (think “tennis-ball-sized”) apple or pear, paired with half-ounce slice of low fat (under 20% milk fat) cheese.

Baby carrots with hummus. 10 baby carrots dipped in 2 tablespoons of hummus.

Popcorn with Parmesan cheese. 1 cup of air popped popcorn topped with a tablespoon of freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

Pumpkin seeds with figs. 3 tablespoons of pumpkin seeds with 2 small figs.

Shelled edamame and bell pepper. 1/3 cup of shelled edamame with 1/2 medium bell pepper, sliced.

Blackberries and yogurt. 1/2 cup blackberries with 1/2 cup of plain nonfat yogurt.

Celery with guacamole. 2 celery stalks topped with 2 tablespoons of guacamole.

Turkey breast with whole wheat bread. 1 slice of turkey breast paired with 1 slice (~35 g by weight) of 100% whole wheat bread – add a teaspoon of mustard for added flavor!

Tip: drinking 250 ml-500 ml water with each of the above snacks can help to keep you feeling satisfied and energized.
