Just for fun

5 things pregnant women are tired of hearing

1 “Look how big you are!”

In no other circumstance would you find it acceptable to approach a friend, or even a complete stranger, and comment on their physical size. Don’t do it, ever.

2 “Say goodbye to life as you know it.”

There is no doubt that having a baby is a life-changing event. But telling somebody this is often done with an undertone of doom. Back off on the fear-mongering.

3 Should you be eating that?

While there are dietary guidelines during pregnancy, it’s safe to assume that pregnant women make choices along with their caregivers and/or family. Unless the practice would merit a call to the authorities, it’s best to keep your judgments to yourself.

4 “Was it planned?”

That’s not your business! You may be excited for her, and you may be curious about the details, but be careful of overstepping social boundaries. Whether or not her pregnancy was planned is not a socially acceptable question.

5 “Do this, use this, read this, try this…”

There is nothing like getting unsolicited advice, and this is an all too common occurrence during pregnancy. The way you did things may have been great for you, but won’t work at all for me. As a general rule of thumb, avoid giving advice unless someone genuinely asks for it.
